Mistranslations from a Future Vernacular is a poetry collection that asks āHow many times can you rewrite a poem?ā Using the experimental techniques of the Oulipo group and more allegedly modern technologies, Daryl Lim rewrites a poem over and over again, to exhaustion, exhilaration, and states in between. Daryl collages text. He shadow-boxes with LLMs. He paints. He translates profanely. This boundaryless, genre-bending journey mixes up the signifier and the signified, the source and the target. Daryl Lim Wei Jie ęä¼ę° is a poet, translator and editor from Singapore. His second collection of poetry,āÆAnything but Human, was a finalist for the Singapore Literature Prize. He conceptualised two anthologies:āÆFood Republic: A Singapore Literary Banquet, which received a Special Award at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards; andāÆThe Second Link, a collection of Singapore and Malaysian writing about the unique relationship between the two countries, shortlisted for Best Literary Work at the Singapore Book Awards. In 2023, he was awarded the Young Artist Award, Singaporeās highest honour for young art practitioners. He is currently working on the video gaming anthology,āÆFree to Play.
